I would have rated this higher for the quality, but since I tipped the bartender 3 bucks since it was a "to go" order and she changed it to 5 bucks, watch yourselves.....also agree with another person's review. i Paid 8 bucks for two house salads with brown, nasty lettuce..place is very over priced.
We stopped here on our road trip across America, and Amy our server was just fantastic. The homemade creamy pepper dressing was superb and both my sisters (Chicken Parm), and my Lasagna was delectable! I only wish I could have fit more food in my belly.
Restaurant was right next to our motel, so very convenient. Food and service were both good.
Nice place to have a great Italian meal. Very handy to the lake and many motels.
Incredible spaghetti dinner! Love the quaint atmosphere. Waitress was so friendly.
Great Chicken Parmesan! Building could use a remodeling inside and out but it is a great place to eat. The May Flies might make you want to turn the other way. Phil's Inn should invest in a leaf blower to clear them away when in season.
The pizza and the water is just about the best thing they serve. The salad was overdone with dressing and you cant ask for dressing on the side. The bread tastes like the kind you get at the dollar store. The meatball sandwich my husband got wasnt even meatballs. It was ground beef slapped on two pieces of bread. Absolutely no shape for the meatballs. The soup tasted like it was straight out of a can and was absolutely disgusting, said my mother. And lastly, the fries tastes like the host you get at communion in church. Overall our dinner was mediocre. Don't come here. The McDonald's is way better.
Visited Phil's for lunch on Oct 19, 2017. Had lasagna with extra sauce and enjoyed it and my wife was quite happy with her pasta and meatballs. The service was very good and friendly, bread plentiful, salad generous and my drink just right. As a former local I was dismayed when I heard that Phil's had slipped but our visit proved that wrong and I found it as good as I remember. Always loved their tomato sauce.
Been going here for over 30 years. Best spaghetti I've ever ate. Going to be a sad day when they close this year.😪 Great Memories
Do yourself a favor and do not listen to the good reviews! That’s exactly what we did, figured we would give it a try. My husband and I both had Spaghetti, we would’ve been better off getting a can of spaghetti-Os from the store. There was hair in our food, the food was just disgusting. Not sure how they’ve been in business for 70 years. Honestly have a stomach ache just thinking about it.
Oh my, so good. Been eating there over 45 years
The owners of this establishment would be well served to put some much needed renovations into this place. The bathrooms are for midgets, the air conditioning was broken (on a 92 degree day) the restaurant is dark, and dirty. They only had 2 people working on Labor Day, when the entire world is up on the islands.
Great roast beef platter. I will be back. Tried the Spagetti very good.
We've heard about Phil's for for years, but never tried it. Usually we go to Jolly Roger's across the street when in the area, but we wanted to try something different. We had super friendly service from our waiter, Patrick, and awesome sandwiches. We had Phil's special (ground sirloin with grilled mushrooms and onions, provolone cheese, on Italian bread) and the meatball sandwich (meatballs, sauce, provolone on Italian bread). The meatball sandwich didn't come with fries, but there were enough served with the Phil's sandwich, we just split them. It's a little dark and dated inside, but it felt homey. We will definitely come back.
Terrible! The food, the waitress, and the place were terrible. There were 6 people there. The waitress, Robin, was loud and put out to take our order. The place was run down, sticky, and dirty. The food, oh my God, the food. It was terrible. The bread was cold, salads were warm, and the sauce was bland. Ketchup has more flavor. Don't go here. It is not worth the money or your time.
Been going there for years, ate there tonight was VERY disappointed! Their spaghetti sauce was watered down and tasteless! Thought we could enjoy one last meal since they are closing on September 7th!!
Love Phil's! Great sauce and wonderful friendly service :-)
4 stars because it was understaffed and so hot in there that day. But the lasagne was fantastic!
Around since 1948, best ravioli I've eaten ever. Going there since childhood. Interior needs serious update. Be nice if they went retro to 1960s interior when it was turquoises.
Nice atmosphere, bland Italian food, basically herbless. Small meatball, huge plate of pasta. Salad skimpy. Exprnsive for what you get. Won't go back
Best spaghetti I've tried in many years.
Been going to Phil's Inn since 1980, always had the best spaghetti sauce and lines out the door. Last few years empty patio, inside decor went down hill, and dirty and worn out. So I have been getting my fix with sauce to go. Bought sauce yesterday and it is watered down. Guess all good things come to an end.
My husband and ate there this evening our food was very cold salad not much to it the waitress was great but for what we paid our food should of been hot was very unhappy will not be going back
Happy that we got to eat here before they close FOREVER.
This restaurant has everything from burgers and pizza to walleye and Italian food. The servers are so kind and helpful. Sure, the place could look a little better, and is a bit small. However, it is great food, with good service.
Something has happened this past year that I don't understand. We have been going to Phil's for 25 years and my husband has been going since he was a small boy (at least another 35 years). We went 2ce this season thinking maybe we hit them on a bad day the 1st time we went-but no, it was just as bad the second time. You go to Phil's for the rich, unique spaghetti sauce. Delicious! Not anymore. It is thin, watery, with no meat and tastes almost like tomatoes soup. We will not go again. Makes me so sad.
Spaghetti sauce was watered down and just not as good as usual. Needed more sauce. Spaghetti could have cooked longer. Service was very good!! We'll be back!!
We went to Phil’s and our server told us the lasagna was made in some factory just like school food. My father got the perch and it wasn’t cooked all the way. It was also very cold. Our salads had brown lettuce in it the only thing homemade seemed to be the dressing on the salad. Disgusting and I’m never going back.
The service was great but the food wasn't very good. I had the chicken parmesan.
I've been going since the 70's for the spaghetti... Love it..
This place was horrible. Terrible service and was very slow. Food came out cold and had to be sent back to warm. Got a cup of chicken noodle soup that literally smelled like S*** will not go back again
Great service and food
I have visited this place since the 60's. Ate here many times during the 70's, so I was excited to go back and visit as an adult. The mold and mildew smell in the filthy carpet made it hard to eat. The bread was wonderful, the salad has never been good, my dad complained about the salad in the seventies and that has not changed. The sauce has a burnt, overly spicy taste. The perch sandwich was good. So disappointed. I would had rather they did not put carpet down and stick to the tile floors they had in the 70's. At least you can mop them. That carpet hasn't been cleaned in years. I am with the other reviewers, where is the health department?
Phil's Inn has been around for as long as i can remember! It is a family Italian restaurant right by the lake. Their sauce has a very unique flavor to it. The service is acceptable. I have enjoyed it for over 15 years. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS
Authentic Italian food. Handmade ravioli. I have been eating here since I was a tot. It is always a decision between spaghetti or ravioli or lasagna. I usually get a split plate with two. It is all made on site along with the sauce, which is fabulous. They also serve fresh Lake Erie perch! Yum.
Great food, friendly staff, sad to see them closing for good. Stop in while you still can before they close for good September 7th.
I really have to say that I was very disappointed with my last visit. We’ve been coming here for about 15 years now and have loved patronizing this business. My last visit was awful due to the quality of food and lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. They’ve given up.
My grandparents took me here starting at the age of 3. I've grown up w/ the place. Their unique sauce is unforgettable. I always buy pints to take home to family members. Their perch sandwich is the best around. Nothing has really changed w/ this place in the decades that I've been going.
Great Italian food. Homemade ravioli yummy. From previous experience, I got the half order. Nice place but casual dress just fine.
Just found out this is last year for them. They are closing
Very good worked there 40 years ago haven't been back since
Arrived 1 minute before closing. Amy greeted us and invited us in. Very gracious and friendly. Lived in the area several years ago and frequented this place. Food did not disappoint. Sauce is delicious. Only issue was that restaurant was very cold. But they were closing.... Worth the drive.
Basic but not horrible. "Sandwhich" had regular white bread, toasted. Not recommended for lunch or carry out. I'm sure the bar could've livened things up a bit.
Good Italian food and friendly service.
So sad, closing in Sept. I'm third generation to enjoy this wonderful restaurant and the best spaghetti...dont hesitate, visit now before you can't. Thank you Phil's inn for years of great food. Going to have to buy a new freezer, mine's about full of quarts of sauce....
Freaking awesome spaghetti... Downside no A/C or very little A/C .... awsome winter comfort food.
If I could give zero stars I would I took my fiancé and her grandfather out for lunch here and it had to be the absolute worst food I’ve ever had. The French fries were frozen and put in a oven. I ordered a SIRLOIN STEAK and I got a burger patty slapped on a plate. The mashed potatoes were obviously not made fresh and the gravy was from a can if you don’t wanna get sick from the food don’t come here. This place use to be the buzz of the town now it’s a wonder how they are still open
Food quality has seem to have gotten worse. Ordered Phil's Special, instead of a big chopped steak got a preformed patty that tasted more of filler than meat, and not near the size I was expecting.
Amazing food. I brought my girlfriend here for our one year anniversary recently and we learned that this will be the last year open. We are sorry to hear that but we had an amazing meal. Thank you for 71 years of great food.
